Challenge!

It has been several weeks since I've been able to do a challenge so I decided to do this one from Stamp TV.  It is called the Free For All Friday Challenge.  This weeks challenge is to make a birthday card for a guy in your life.  Masculine cards can be a challenge but I was on a roll so I decided to make a few more this week.

I only have one done but I have to make a few more later this week.  I have a couple of family birthdays coming up in June.

This card was done using a Kenny K digi stamp as the main image but I also used Crafty Secrets Car Classics stamp set to create the background paper.  I colored the image with copic markers (R20, R22, R27, R29, YR02, YR04, YR07, E000, E00, E01, N01, N03, N05, N07, 110).  I cut the image and mats out using spellbinders petite ovals small & large.  For the background paper I stamped the images using black memento ink on bazzill red card stock..
Well I have to go get some work done, thanks for stopping by.

New Class Samples Finally!!!

I can't believe it is almost June, I think the wet rainy weather is making it feel more like March.  Anyway I did get my samples made for the June class I will be teaching at Scrap Arts.  Please note that one card is for Father's Day but if you don't want to make it for Father's Day I will have some other greeting and verse stamps available to choose from.  I do not have the dates and times for this class just yet but I will post them on the schedule page as soon as I have them.

The stamps I used for the first card are from the Car Classics stamp set by Crafty Secrets.  I also used them for some other cards last year.  This is a fabulous set and I have designed several other cards with it.  Check this post for some great ideas.  I also used the diamond plate cuttlebug folder for the background texture.

The next card is done with the beach life stamp set by Flourishes.  I will be teaching how to use a mask to combine 3 different stamps to create one scene.  The image is colored with water color pencils and an aqua brush.

I used a few different stamp sets to make this card, Crafty Secrets, Flourishes & Local King.  The embossing folder is by cuttlebug and the circles were cut out on the cricut.

The final card is done using the faux wood grain technique and the image is from a Local King stamp set. I used spellbinders large & small labels to cut out image and mat.

Well I think I'll head back to my craft studio for a while. I bought some new Crafty Secrets (Tea With Alice & Wizard of Oz) stamps last week and I can't wait to make some cards with them.
Thanks for stopping by and until next time, happy crafting everyone.

The Post that Disappeared!

OK....I published a post the other day and I know it went up and people even commented on it but now it seems to have vanished!!! I really don't know why, I know blogger was having problems so it seems to have poofed.  So now I will post this again and hope it stays put this time.

Class Inspiration

The last 3 weeks have been crazy, hectic & not at all what I had planned.  I haven't had much of time to spend in my studio & when I do get in there I can't concentrate.  I decided to take a class at Scrap Arts last Saturday to see if I could get inspired.  I took a watercolor technique class taught by the very talented Marie Kirkwood.  For details on this technique check out this post on her blog.  The class was great fun and very informative.  I decided I wanted to use these cards for Mother's Day cards so I put assembled them at home.

The painting is done using dye re-inkers, aqua brush and a water misting bottle (to spray your paper with).  The best part is that no 2 flowers turn out the same.

You can see the original samples on her blog and I put the first 2 cards together the way she had designed them with the exception of the greetings.

I changed the third card up a bit and stamped a design on the card base with a basic grey stamp and crushed olive distress ink. I added some black card stock to mat the embossed piece and the greeting.  I also used a different flower for the card.  I haven't put the tag together yet, but I will post a pic as soon as I get it finished.
Thanks for stopping by!

More Mother's Day Cards!

Here are the other 3 cards I made last week end.  Some of the pictures are a little fuzzy. For the first card I decided to play with my grey copics (N1, N3, N5 & N7).  The flower is from the Water lily stamp set by flourishes.  I cut the image & mat out with nestabilities petite scalloped ovals small & large.  The embossed white card stock was done using the "Venus" embossing folder by Craft Concepts.

The second card I made using the same layout from a card in my “Spring has Sprung” card class.  I used a different stamp on the background paper and stamped it with memento summer sky ink.   I used a mask of the butterfly to create the chain of butterflies across the card.  I used watercolor pencils to color the butterflies.  I then stamped the butterfly on a piece of white card stock and cut it out (also added some glossy accents to spots on wings of this butterfly).  I used a small piece of sookwang tape to attach the body of the butterfly to one on the card.  I then colored 3d dots match the color of the card and lifted each wing with them.  The photo is a little blurry but you can see that by coloring the sides of the 3d dots that they blend into the card better and are not as noticeable.  I love copics & prisma markers for this reason.  You can color so many things to match exactly with your project.  The Mother’s Day stamp is from the Anna Griffin Celebration stamp set by All Night Media & the Happy is from the Tag Lines stamp set by Flourishes.

The final card was done using the same layout from another card class.  The patterned paper is by Imaginisce, the stamp is Spring Birgitta by Swiss Pixies.  I colored her using copic markers and added sakura stardust pen to her wings.  I also colored the buttons with copics to match.

This is my coloring assistant, all colors have to meet with her approval.
Well I better get back to work on class samples.  I will post them as soon as I have they are ready. Thanks for visiting my blog.  Have a great weekend & happy crafting everyone.

Class Inspiration

The last 3 weeks have been very crazy and hectic and not at all what I had planned.  I haven't been in my craft studio much and when I do get in there I can't concentrate.  So I decided to take a class for some inspiration.  Last Saturday I took a class at Scrap Arts called Fresh Florals designed and taught by the very talented Marie Kirkwood.  In this class we learned how to watercolor paint using re-inkers and an aqua brush.  You can check out the details on Marie's blog.
I did not put my cards together in the class because I wanted to change the greetings to Mother's Day.  The first 2 cards I assembled much the same as Marie had designed them other than the greeting.
The 3rd card I changed up a bit. I stamped a design on the card base with a stamp by basic grey and crushed olive distress ink.  I layered the embossed piece and greeting with black card stock.  I also used the flower for the tag on this card instead of the rosebud.  I will post a picture of the tag when I get it finished.

I must say I was certainly inspired to make more cards.  I finished these at home on Saturday night as well as 2 more Mother's Day cards (I will post them tomorrow or Friday).  I hope to get back in my studio tomorrow and design some new classes for June.  Thanks for stopping by and until next time, happy crafting everyone.
