Happy Leap Day!!!

That means an extra day to stamp and colour. I kind of do things backwards when I'm colouring images for cards.  I know I really should pick out what patterned paper I am going to use first and then colour the image to match the paper.  I am a colour first pick paper later kind of person.  I have tons of patterned paper and I figure I'm bound to find something that coordinates with my picture.  If all else fails I stamp a pattern on plain card stock to make it work.  The only problem with this process is it can be time consuming to go through all my patterned paper until I find something that works. Anyway,  my wonderful hubby bought me some new stamps for an anniversary present last week.  One of them is this fabulous row boat stamp by Impression Obsession.  I love this stamp and couldn't wait to use it.
I really lucked out with this card though, it only took me a couple of minutes to find this striped paper from the Bo Bunny Welcome Home paper pad and it worked perfectly (at least I think it does) with the image I had already coloured.  I coloured the image with copic markers and I even remembered to write down the colours this time.  Water - B000, 00, 01, G000 Sky - BG0000 Clouds - N0, 1, 3 Lighthouse - N0, 1, 3, 5, R89, Y15 Sail boat - B91, 93 Row Boat - E41, 42, 43, 44 Post E40, 42, 44, 49 Grass - YG91, 93, 95.  I also used the same greys for rocks and bucket with a little bit of B00 for water in bucket.  I added a little bit of white gel pen to the water near the shore line and some clear glaze pen to top part of lighthouse and the water in the bucket.  I didn't have quite the right colour of ribbon so I coloured a beige one with an E77 copic marker.

Well that's it for now I have to get back to work.  Have a great day everyone and until next time, Happy Crafting!

Final Class Sample...

...for my new All Occasion card class I'm teaching at Scrap Arts in March.  I have a day off to play catch up and I'm going to try to get a few cards made today as well.  I just got a few new stamps and I can't wait to try them out.  As soon as I get projects completed with them I'll post the pics.

I've noticed owls and banners seem to be very popular these days and not just in card making.  I decided I wanted to combine these 2 elements for this card.  I just love this picadilly paper from basic grey and used it for every card in this class.  I cut the banner pieces and the owl out using the cricut (life's a party & create a critter).  The greeting is from the tag lines stamp set by flourishes (I use this stamp set so much) and I stamped it with rich cocoa memento ink.

I guess I better go get my work done.  I really hope to have something more to post tomorrow.  Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Another Class Sample!

Well the weekend kind of got away from me and this is the post I was supposed to put up on Saturday.  I managed to get my 2 posts up last week but I was hoping to get three done.  Maybe just maybe I'll be able to get 3 posts up this week.

This card has a Thank You greeting from flourishes stamps on it but if you are taking the class you can choose a different greeting.  I cut the greeting shape and the butterfly shape out using the cricut machine (storybook and gypsy wanderings cartridges). The image stamp is from the basic grey insignia stamp set and the ink colours are dandelion & tangelo by memento.  I used the d'vine swirl cuttlebug embossing folder on the white card stock and edged it with versa magic green tea chalk ink.
I am posting my March class list on my schedule page tonight and there is a group photo of all the cards together as well.  This class has only 2 dates for March and maybe 1 for April.  I will only be teaching 3 classes in March and April as those are really busy months for me at my other job.  I will post the 4th card for this class in a couple of days.

Have a great night everyone and thanks for stopping by.

Happy Friday!!!!

Sometimes I just can't think of a good title for these blog posts LOL!   Anyway here is the second sample for my new class at Scrap Arts.

This is a variation on an easel card and when closed it measures 4" x 5 1/2".  I used a 2" cupcake from the cricut cartridge "home decor" and the patterned paper is from the basic grey "picadilly" line.  I used spellbinders petite scalloped circles to frame the cupcake piece and the circle I cut out on the cricut.  It is really hard to see in the picture but I did add glossy accents and glitter to the top of the cupcake.  For the greeting piece I used a stamp from kaiser (but in class you will have a bunch of greetings to choose from).
The shapes for the greeting pieces are cut out using spellbinders labels four.
I will be back tomorrow with sample #3 for this class.  Have a great weekend everyone and happy crafting.

All Occasion Card Class!

I've added a new class at Scrap Arts for March.  These cards will be for any occasion and you will be able to choose your greetings.  All the sample cards have a greeting on them but students will have a variety of greetings to choose from.  The places for the greeting are a good size so there will be lots of options to work with. Also all the cards are done with paper from the basic grey "picadilly" line which is all double sided so you can also switch things up a by flipping some of the papers over.

My hubby (Peter) bought me some fabulous craft stuff for our anniversary on Tuesday (23 years, he truly is the most wonderful hubby in the world).  One of the items is the spellbinders lacey squares dies which I had to use for at least one card.    The stamps are from the crafty secrets "tea with Alice" set and I paper pieced the cup and shaded it with copic markers (N1, N3 & BG10).  I used hint of pesto to edge all the patterned paper and the white image piece.
There will be 4 cards in this class and I will post the dates on my class schedule page soon.  I will also post the other samples over the next few days.  I only have one card left to make and I will post a group shot when I post the dates.

I guess I better go clean up the disaster area known as my craft room and have a clean spot ready to work in for tomorrow.  Have a great Friday, I'll be back tomorrow with another post, until then happy crafting everyone.

Happy Valentine's Day

... a little bit late.  I finished this card up on Monday but I haven't had a chance to post it until now.  I hope everyone had a wonderful Valentine's day.  Pete and I went out to dinner a few days early to avoid the craziness that happens at restaurants on Valentine's day.  We also got our new computer desks this week so I got those put  together and had to rearrange half the house .... you know how it is, get new furniture and everything in the house has to move .... the domino effect.  I think I finally have things almost arranged the way I like, only a couple of more pieces to move and I'm done.  So it may be a few days before I can post again.  Fortunately this is my second post for this week.  I will be working on my new class samples for March this weekend and I will post them as soon as I get a chance.  Anyhow here is the card I did get made.

For this card I used more of the Echo Park Yours Truly paper.  I cut out hearts on the cricut and attached  the ones on the patterned paper with 3d dots for the other ones I used glue dots.  I covered the middle red heart with diamond stickles.  I used basic grey flourish corners and black memento ink to create border around the card.  It is hard to tell in the picture but I also added some black rhinestones to the stamped design for some added detail.  The scalloped edge on the black card stock was done using an EK Success edge punch.  The greeting is from the Flourishes "tag line" stamp set.
Well I think that's about it for tonight.  I have a ton of work to get done so I better get back to it.  Have a great weekend everyone and until next time happy crafting.

Sweet Hearts Forever!

I had a little extra time the other day and managed to get a few cards done and I'm trying to use up my Echo Park patterned paper.  I'm trying to use up my 12"x12" patterned paper as I get it now.  It could take me years to use up the stuff I already have in my craft room.

Anyhow on with the details for this card.  I embossed the white card stock using the craft concepts embossing folder "Venus" and edged it with versa magic red magic chalk ink (also inked all the patterned paper with it).  I used a Martha Stewart lace edge punch to create the edges on the black card stock  I popped each heart up using 3d dots for lots of dimension.  The greetings stamps are from the crafty secrets stamp set Cherish and I used black memento ink.  I added a few black rhinestones from kaiser craft in the corners for a little more detail.

Well that's it for tonight, I'm going to go back to my craft room for a bit and then watch "Once Upon a Time". I will be back in a few days with another post. Most likely another Valentine card .... I might as well keep making them while I'm inspired.

Have a great Monday everyone, until next time happy crafting!

All That Glitters....

...is covered with diamond stickles.  You can even see it in the picture,  it looks much better in person though.  This will be a quick post because I have a movie (Breaking Dawn, Part 1) to watch and a few more Valentine cards to make.

For this card I layered the red and black card stock together and embossed it with the allegro cuttlebug embossing folder.  The hearts I cut out on the cricut using the George cartridge.  The patterned paper is from the Echo Park "yours truly" line.  I edged them with versa magic red magic ink and covered the largest one with diamond stickles.  It looks really nice when the light hits it.  I cut a plain rectangle for the greeting and then snipped the end with scissors.  I attached it to the card with glue dots and a mini black brad.  I also added a few rhinestones that I coloured with copic marker R29.  The greeting is from two different stamp sets the Happy is from flourishes "tag line" stamp set and the Valentine's Day is from an old Anna Griffin stamp set by Plaid and I stamped the greeting with archival black ink.

Well that's it for tonight but I actually will be back tomorrow with another card.  Have a great night everyone!!!

The City of Love!

Paris....well we've all heard mention of it a time or two or three or.... I really couldn't tell you because I've never been.  It does seem to be a romantic looking spot in all the movies and pictures I've seen.  Just the name of the city conjures images of romance and love.  I guess that's why I LOVE using this stamp set for so many of my Valentine's cards LOL.

I created the image piece on this card by using the "French Mail" stamp set by crafty secrets.  I wanted a collage look and used memento tuxedo black and spun sugar distress ink to stamp the images.  I also used one little heart stamp from the crafty secrets "Kewpie's" set.  I edged the image piece and all the patterned papers with black versa magic ink.  I framed the image piece with some black card stock and attached it to the card with 3d foam dots.  The patterned paper is from the echo park "yours truly" collection.  I also added a few rhinestones from kaiser craft (these ones were pink...I didn't have to colour them with copics).

Well since we only have a few days left and I have many more Valentine cards to make I guess I better get in my studio and see what I can come up with.  I'll have another card to post tomorrow at some point.  That is if I don't get to distracted with my movie I plan to be watching.  Yes the Twilight Breaking Dawn part 1 is on sale tomorrow, and since I didn't get a chance to see it at the theatre when it was playing I plan to have a copy tomorrow.  I can't wait to see how different it is from the books LOL!!!

Anyhow, have a great weekend everyone...I'm sure I'll be able to spare 20mins to update my blog again tomorrow.

Happy Birthday!

I have a birthday party to attend tomorrow night and needed a card for the birthday girl.  This is what I came up with for my sister-in-law.  Shhhh! don't tell her she won't be getting the card until tomorrow night :).

I used purple and lavender colours so it would match the wrapping paper.  The patterned paper is from the Basic Grey "wisteria" line and the rhinestones are also from Basic Grey.  I edged all the patterned paper with eggplant versa magic ink and I stamped the greeting with memento tuxedo black ink.  The greeting stamp is from the flourishes tag line stamp set.  I didn't have any flowers that matched the card so I coloured a white one with a copic marker G20 and edged it with the eggplant ink. I used a fiskars edge punch to create the decorative border and added some light green ribbon.  You can't tell in the picture but I used a sakura stardust pen to add some glitter to the middle of all the flowers on the smaller piece of patterned paper and then popped that piece up with 3d dots.
Have a great rest of the weekend everyone and until next time happy crafting everyone!
Thanks for stopping by!

I Heart You!

I can't believe Valentine's day is so only 11 days away, it seems like just yesterday we were celebrating New Year's.  I'm still working on Valentine's cards and trying to come up with different designs for my next few cards.  I also need to design my new class for March.  I think I will do a class of general greeting cards with mixed greetings.

I managed to get in my craft room this evening and get another card made.  This card is done using a bunch of hearts I cut out using my cricut (George cartridge).  I also cut out the "I heart you" with the cricut and glued it to the heart using a glue pen.  All the patterned paper is from the basic grey line "bittersweet" and the card stock is bazzill.  I edged the hearts with jumbo java chalk ink and the greeting was stamped with walnut stain distress ink.  I think the greeting stamp is one of the 1.50 stamps from Michael's and the background stamp (which you can't really see in the picture) is from Stampin' Up (it is tiny hearts and dots that I stamped with spun sugar distress ink.  The heart with the I heart you on it is popped up on 3d dots and has diamond stickles around one edge of it.  I wanted to add a little more embellishment so I used the pink rhinestones from Kaiser craft.
Well it is late and I have to work in the morning but I will be back tomorrow night with another project, not sure what but chances are good it will be a card LOL!  I also need to prep for another class on Monday.  Kit likes to help with the class prep, here she is helping my with last weeks prep.  I think she calls it supervising :)  Fortunately she didn't fall asleep on the cricut mat.

Have a great Saturday everyone and until tomorrow night happy crafting everyone!
